184 lb Terrapin Wrestler Jimmy Sheptock Climbs to #1 Ranking

University of Maryland senior Jimmy Sheptock was named Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Sheptock notched six straight victories over the course of the holiday period, winning the 184-pound title at the prestigious Ken Kraft Midlands Championships in the process.

At the Midlands, Sheptock won five matches and became the first Maryland wrestler to win a title at the tournament since 2009. Ranked third nationally across most polls headed into the championships, Sheptock defeated No. 2 Ethen Lofthouse of Iowa with a takedown in sudden victory to capture the title. The win, combined with a major decision victory over Domenic Abouander in a dual against Michigan, lifted Sheptock to No. 1 at 184 pounds in the InterMat and Wrestling Report individual rankings. The Northampton, Pa. native is now 18-0 on the season, with four victories over ranked opponents.  from umterps.com
