I knew we were in trouble tonight the second Mike Patrick announced that TJ Warren would not be playing. The first 6 minutes of the game were unbelievable as the Terps trailed 6-0. Usually the first game after a team loses its star player, the other guys rally. Watch NC State drop its next game. Maryland lost a golden opportunity to be at 4-2 and undisputed 3rd place. Turgeon was distraught post game.
Basically you can’t shoot 31% 22-70 and win any game.

In fairness Charles Mitchell had a strong game–8 points and 18 rebounds. Jon Graham and Dodd combined for 8 points and 8 rebounds.
The first half of the game was extremely hard to watch but when Jake beat the buzzer with a trey and the Terps were up by 9–I kind of thought it would be a w. But then the 2nd half. You saw it and if you missed it you were lucky. As usual the chant of ACC rang throughout the arena as the clock ran down.

Turgeon Post Game Comments
“Not a good second half for us but give them credit. We got up and we stopped running back. We quit guarding and we gave them confidence and I thought they were terrific on both ends. Lee was all over it. It was really guarding, the big guys protected the rim and Turner got hot. We just let it get away. They made a lot of tough shots, too. Double pumps, banks and different things. It was kind of their night. We guarded for one half but not the second. If we would have guarded the second half like we did the first it might have been a different outcome. But, we didn’t do it.”
What was it like for you guys emotionally to go from so high after Notre Dame and smiling and up 9 at halftime to this?
“It’s college basketball. I wish we played tomorrow but we don’t. We have another five-day layoff until we play Pitt. We’ll see. We’re all disappointed so we’ll see.”

Another year of this basketball program not going anywhere. No talent + No coaching = No post season. If it wasn’t for UNC this would be the worst shooting team in the ACC. The Big 10 can’t wait for these guys to show up. Maryland athletics is at an all time low. They should have joined The Patriot league. They are showing they can’t compete in the ACC and next year they will show they can’t compete with the Big10.
