The ACC Admits that the Terps Were Robbed of 1 Possession in Duke Game

The ACC on Sunday acknowledged that officials failed to change the possession arrow in the second half of Saturday’s MarylandDuke game.

The conference said “a miscommunication occurred between the officials and the table crew” that led to Duke retaining the possession arrow after earning possession from a jump ball with 16:58 left in the game.

The next tie-up came with 6:39 to go and Maryland leading 56-54. Instead of giving the ball to the Terrapins, the arrow allowed Duke to keep possession. The Blue Devils’ Amile Jefferson scored on a layup from the ensuing inbound pass to tie the score. “The matter has been and will be handled internally by the league office,” the ACC said in a statement.

League spokeswoman Amy Akola told the Baltimore Sun that the conference would not be changing the outcome of the game because of the botched call.   frpm espn.com
