Brooke Griffin Nets 7 Goals as #2 Terps Roll Past Penn State 14-7

Led by seven goals from Brooke Griffin and 21 saves by Abbey Clipp, the No. 2 Maryland women’s lacrosse team defeated No. 7 Penn State 14-7 on the road Saturday afternoon.

Maryland (4-0) notched its first win over a nationally-ranked opponent in 2014 with the seven-goal victory against future Big Ten foe Penn State. In addition to Griffin’s seven scores, Beth Glaros added a hat trick and Kristen Lamon, Erin Collins, Kelly McPartland and Taylor Cummings chipped in with one tally each. Clipp’s 21 saves is three stops shy of the Terrapin record held by Denise Wescott in 1977 which was also against the Nittany Lions.
