PHILADELPHIA – The No. 2 Maryland women’s lacrosse team utilized a strong first half to pick up its 10th win of the 2014 campaign as it topped No. 6 Penn 15-5 Wednesday.
Brooke Griffin, Beth Glaros and Bryn Boucher all tallied hat tricks as Maryland (10-0, 3-0 ACC) held its fifth opponent to five or fewer goals. ACC Offensive Player of the Week Kelly McPartland added five points on two goals and three assists. Taylor Cummings and Zoe Stukenberg each added two scores.
The Terps wasted no time getting their offense running as Griffin and Glaros each scored goals in the first two minutes of the game for an early 2-0 Maryland lead. Glaros then extended that cushion to three with an assisted tally by Kelly McPartland with about 20 minutes remaining in the period.
