MARYLAND OPENS ACC TOURNAMENT PLAY AGAINST VIRGINIA
Maryland will be making its 33rd all-time appearance at the ACC Championship, but its first since 2005, beginning Thursday against third-seeded Virginia. The Terps are 17-51 all-time at the conference’s premier event and split a pair of games against Virginia Tech (W, 5-4) and Wake Forest (L, 13-20) in their last appearance.
Maryland has won three conference titles (1965, 1970 and 1971), all before the introduction of tournament play in 1973.
