Fractured Ankle to Sideline Trayvon Reed 8-12 Weeks

Maryland men’s basketball coach Mark Turgeon announced on Tuesday that freshman center Trayvon Reed has been diagnosed with a fractured right ankle. Reed sustained the ankle injury this past April in high school.

The injury was further evaluated during his pre-participation physical and the fracture was discovered at that time. Reed is expected to miss 8-to-12 weeks and the injury will not require surgery. Reed (7-1, 235) is one of two freshman 7-footers joining the Maryland men’s basketball program this season as part of a nationally ranked top-10 recruiting class. The Snellville, Ga. is a four-star prospect and ranked in the top-100 of major recruiting outlets including Scout.com, Rivals.com and 247sports.com.       from umterps.com
