Seven current and former members of the Maryland women’s lacrosse program were named to the 38-player roster for the 2014-15 U.S. women’s national team, announced Sunday after a three-day tryout at Georgetown University.
Current Terrapins Taylor Cummings, Megan Douty, Kelly McPartland and Alice Mercer joined former Maryland standouts Alex Aust, Caitlyn McFadden and Katie Schwarzmann on the team, which will train and compete in several exhibition events in advance of the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women’s World Cup in Surrey, England.
Ultimately, 18 players will represent the U.S. as the team goes for a third consecutive and eighth overall world title.
Eight players from the squad that won gold at the 2013 FIL World Cup in Oshawa, Ontario, return to the training team, including McFadden and Schwarzmann. from umterps.com
