Rivals on Ivan Bender

Bender is a 6-foot-9 power forward that played for Croatia in the U19 World Championships last year. From what I’ve been told, he’s got good size/length and is a solid athlete but could stand to put on a few pounds. He’s also coming off of an ACL injury. Obviously, if you are Maryland you want to see how he’s progressed post-injury. He’s also got a younger brother that is a stud, but one NBA scout told me he could be a high first round NBA pick in the next couple of years. In other words, he wouldn’t be coming to Maryland.

Maryland turned Alex Len into a lottery pick and landed a big-time euro in Cekovsky. Maryland also recruited Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, the Ukranian shooting guard that apparently gave the Terps a brief look before ultimately picking Kansas over UVA. Point being, the staff has done a good job of identifying top euro talent, so if they feel he’d be a solid addition and after vetting and seeing him play, I’m sure he would be.
