Thank you Stefon, CJ, Randy, Locks, Andre and on and on for this inspired win today. BIG TIME Football has returned to College Park. Does anyone miss ACC football now?
NOTE This victory will be enjoyed by me for at least 1 year if not longer!!! I will never forget how Penn State ran up a 70-7 score against us at College Park in 1993. The stench of that game has lingered as much as the 1-35-1 record that we entered the day with.
It’s amazing to me how the players seemed to have felt the years of frustration that Penn State has caused the University of Maryland. This even comes down to Franklin’s recent comments that he owns the recruiting area of Maryland. The pre game postering brings to mind what Brian Billick said before the Ravens victory at Tennessee in their 1st title run–“When you go into the lion’s den, you don’t tippy-toe in. You carry a spear. You go in screaming like a banshee. ” Don’t forget the pre game stuff was a two way street. not shaking hands was wrong —but………let’s see what happens next year at M&T.
Look at the stats today, the 2 teams were almost mirrored images. Maryland dominated the punting game and that was the one clear difference. By the way a continued thanks to Matt Stover for his work with the best kicker in the nation –Brad Craddock. Craddock’s kick might have been good from 62 yards.
Edsall was near tears during his post game interview with Paul Carcaterra but then again so were most Maryland fans including myself.
The offense was plaqued today by a plethora of dropped passes. Once Stefon got rolling you could almost sense victory. It’s great to have a bye week after such an emotional game. With Sparty coming to town Byrd will be at a fever pitch on the night of the 15th.
Christian Hackenburg and OC John Donovan seemed to at odds with each other all game.
Wisconsin beat Rutgers on the road today 37-0, perhaps the Badgers might be playing the best ball in the Big 10 right now.
8 hours after the game the smile across the face of Terrapin Nation is still beaming. Ain’t the beer cold!!!
