1) For anyone who is unsure about the team’s reaction to its Bowl Destination watch this :

2) Stanford has been in the past 5 BCS games—a win over the Cardinal would be huge. Football wise just the buildup and commentary about the game game does a great deal for the profile of our program.
3) The game gives the West Coast fan base a day of Terrapin excitement. I was at the Emerald Bowl and yes there are many Terrapin graduates who live on the West Coast.
4) I understand the high cost of attending a Bowl Game in the West and many fans will just not be able to go but this will not be Maryland’s last Bowl game and it will be very likely that the next game comes back east. The game will be on ESPN Nationally.
5) What a great TV doubleheader that day. First Maryland’s opening BIG 10 game at Michigan State at 5PM and then The Bowl Game at 10PM.
6) The team will be rewarded with a trip to one of the great cities of America. This is certainly a part of what being invited to a bowl is about.
7) I just love the sound of Maryland vs Stanford.

I hope the coaching staff reaches out to some of the better high schools in the San Francisco area. As a Big Ten school located just outside of D.C. Maryland has a lot to offer football players.
