5600 watch #10 Terps Defeat #23 Minnesota on the Road 77-73

The 10th-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team took control of the Big Ten standings with a 77-73 win at No. 23 Minnesota Sunday at Williams Arena. Maryland (13-2, 4-0 B1G) ended Minnesota’s 10-game win streak.

Sophomore Lexie Brown led the Terrapins with 20 points, seven assists and no turnovers, while redshirt junior Brene Moseley scored 15 off the bench. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough added 15 points as well.

“Just a tremendous game environment,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “That’s what you want to play in for a women’s game. Two great teams. We just beat a really good team. When you talk about seeing Minnesota live—just their toughness, their aggressiveness—they gave us fits. (It was a) game of runs. I was really proud (of our ability) to come into a building like this. Unbelievably tough to keep our poise and our composure, and I just think our team got better today.”
