last night at the verizon center the oklahoma city thunder defeated the wizards by a deuce, 105-103 in overtime. the thunder winning for the second straight night on the road were led by kevin durants 34 pts and russell westbrook’s 32. nene tallied 24 for home team. washington’s dynamic backcourt of john wall and bradley beal were held to a combined 32 pts on 11 for 38 shooting.

durant, returning home requested 91 tickets for family and friends. with such a large ticket allocation, kd had guests sitting courtside, the upper deck and 3 “lucky” friends had seats in the mens room stall.

the wizards held the games biggest lead at 10 in the 3rd quarter. at least i think the biggest lead was 10. from time to time i changed channels to watch mississippi burning. starring willem dafoe as a straight laced , by the book fbi agent sent from washington and the brilliant gene hackman as an old school, southern agent, mississippi burning is a fictionalized version of the fbi’s investigation of the brutal murders of 3 freedom riders in racially torn mississippi. set in 1964…wait a minute. aren’t we discussing the basket ball game?

sorry. the wizards led throughout the game as the thunder’s 2 stars, durant and westbrook had an off night shooting through the first 3 quarters. however, the cream rose to the top in the 4th quarter and overtime as durant and westbrook seem to make every okc basket. long 3’s, hard drives to the hole, fade aways. on one play durant guarded by 6 11 marcin gortat, came across the lane and made a windmill dunk which gortat missed blocking by a foot due to kd’s incredible length and wingspan.

john wall missed a 40 footer with .6 left on the clock as the game ended
