Offensive Woes Continue as Terps Lose to Yale 10-6

No need to panic yet. But that’s 2 weeks in a row with the Men’s lax team scoring 8 and 6 goals. Dylan Maltz scored his first 2 goals for Maryland and Goalier Kyle Behrlohr stopped 12 shots. Other then that, there’s not much to say. Terps are 1-1 with a Tuesday afternoon game against Penn on the docket.

Despite a pair of goals from Henry West and Dylan Maltz, the #7 Maryland men’s lacrosse team fell to #14 Yale, 10-6, in freezing temperatures at Reese Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The pair of goals were the first in a Maryland uniform for Maltz, who transferred from Syracuse in the offseason. Junior goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr tied his career-high with 12 saves in net.

The Terps started the game on fire, scoring back-to-back goals three minutes into the contest on strikes form Jay Carlson and Matt Rambo to take the lead, 2-0.

Yale quickly answered, however, scoring four unanswered goals, including a pair from Conrad Overbeck. Ben Reeves and Jeff Cimbalista doubled the Bulldogs’ lead, giving Yale a 4-2 lead after the first frame.

Henry West ended the Maryland scoring drought with 7:02 left in the second quarter, scoring on a man-up strike after a feed from Joe LoCascio to cut Yale’s lead in half.

Dylan Maltz squared the game at 4 after a beautiful feed from Colin Heacock with 2:51 to play in the second.

Yale and Maryland then traded goals, as West and Maltz added their second scores of the contest, and the game progressed into the fourth quarter, 6-6.
