From Roman Stubbs in the Washington Post
The only real blemish on Diamond Stone’s performance in Wednesday night’s McDonald’s All-American game occurred in the second half, when the star center caught one of the game’s officials with an elbow that resulted in a nasty black eye.
Stone later tried to explain the accident with ESPN analyst Jay Williams, remaining in a playful mood about his imposing presence. Five days after he committed to Maryland, Stone looked as if he was enjoying himself Wednesday night in Chicago. He finished with 14 points and three rebounds helping the East to a 111-91 win.
Stone hit 7 of 9 shots from the field and flashed the skills that have made him one of the country’s highest touted prospects. He made waves early in the game with a block that set up a score, and showed an array of post moves to finish with eight points in the first half. He stepped outside and knocked down an 18-footer at one point, ran the floor and dunked an assist from the country’s top player, Ben Simmons, and he closed out the game with a putback dunk shortly after connecting on a hook.
