Stranger in a Strange Land—Review of Experience at Levi Stadium

This was my 2nd trip to Levi Stadium in Santa Clara–not San Francisco. Trip #1 was Randy Edsall’s last Bowl Game as a Terrapin Coach before a half filled stadium vs Stanford.

This time it was to view the 1-4 Ravens vs the 1-4 49ers. The teams were 3 years removed from the Super Showdown won by the Ravens. This was not a game on that level.

Once again it was a 75 minute drive from the my kids house in the heart of San Francisco.

Thousands of empty seats were evident around the stadium at game time. Unfortunately, not the two next to me which were inhabited by revolting drunk guys who for 3 hours kept thanking me for Anquan and Torrey. Security was certainly not as evident as at Ravens games and finally we had to switch seats to possibly avoid being puked on.

The stadium is high tech to the nth degree and features over 100 food stands.

There were way too many mentions of how the Ravens were “lucky ” to beat the 49ers in the Har-Bowl.

After Joe’s pass to Steve Smith Sr in quadruple coverage fell hopelessly to the ground, I did pause to ask a few 49er faithful who won that Super Bowl because I could not remember.

Egress from the stadium was easy and we rushed back to San Francisco to spend a few more hours with my grandson.
