Offense Comes Up Empty Again as the Irish Defeat the Terps 9-5 in Cali

At least this week, the offense stalled against the #1 team in the country.

No excuses as the Terps as late as 6 minutes left had the ball and the score was tied.

The Irish scored 5 times in what seemed like seconds to put the game awat.

Despite the loss, goalie Kyle Bernlohr was stellar in the cage.

As I said often on Terp Talk, I really feared the lopsided away loaded schedule this year.  Now the Terps have to travel Tuesday to Drexel and Saturday to a desperate Princeton squad.

Here we go. Tillman can’t finish for his players. The truth is that MD had a number of good looks at the cage. Colin Heacock had two golden chances in the second that were so good the announcers on the stream talked about how he had to finish those chances.

The Terps had several others but Shane Doss was every bit a match for Bernlohr in goal. ND’s last two scores were simply guys running up the score. They went to goal twice in the last 42 seconds with a 7-5 lead when they could have easily run out the clock.

The real problem was clears. MD had six failed clears including two timer violations against a relatively soft zone not against ND’s 10 man ride.

I thought the offense was fine.
