2016 6’7″ 4 Star Wingman Micah Thomas Commits to Maryland—from scout.com

Mark Turgeon and Maryland added another quality pick up to their 2016 recruiting class. This time they struck with 2016 talented wing Micah Thomas.

2016 Huntington (W.V.) Prep wing Micah Thomas verbally committed to Mark Turgeon and Maryland late Monday evening, he told Scout.

“I decided to go with Maryland ultimately because I felt it was the best fit for me as a player,” Thomas told Scout. “They’ll develop my skills and [there’s] the window of opportunity to get playing time early on.”

Thomas, a 6-foot-7 wing that played for Team Thad in the spring and summer, chose Maryland over the likes of Louisville, Baylor, Arkansas, LSU, Iowa State and Florida.

“Me and coach [Dustin] Clark had an awesome relationship ever since he started recruiting me,” Thomas said. “He didn’t sugar coat anything and told me what I would have to do early on if I wanted to be successful there.”

“And the relationship they had not only with me, but my mom also played a huge role,” he added. “They flew down to Memphis to have dinner with her and had a nice conversation with her. Then they won me over once they talked to my mom because as you know, your mom always looks out for your best intentions in life and when that took place I was already comfortable with them, but it became even more comfortable knowing that she thought it was a good fit for me.”

Thomas, a lengthy prospect, is versatile and expects to help the Terps with his shooting and ability to get deflections.
