Somehow Tony Bennett and UVA went from 11 up to 6 down in about 2 minutes–#that’s a great coach?

The fact that Washington has reached the Final Four doesn’t diminish the nature of their win over Maryland at Maryland to the point of requiring quotation marks around the word upset. They were a seven seed for a reason. They finished the regular season 20-9 and fifth in the Pac 12. The Pac 12 was probably the best WBB conference this season but the Maryland women shouldn’t lose a home game to a team that finished fifth in any conference. It’s still an upset.

Below is a link to a pretty interesting list which ranks NCAA coaches by the differential between the number of expected tournament wins based on seeding vs their actual number of wins. Not surprisingly Tom Izzo is #1 by a pretty good margin however that number will certainly take a hit when 2016 is factored in while #2 Jim Boeheim’s differential will increase and may put him at #1.
Some notable names:
Bill Self checks in at -0.4 in 53 tournament games, #372 on the list
Mark Turgeon is at +0.7 in 12 tournament games, #91 on the list
Gary Williams is at +1.5 in 43 tournament games, #44 on the list
Coach K is at +1.8 in 111 tournament games, #35 on the list
Tony Bennett is at -1.6 in 11 tournament games, #504 on the list
