Analysis of Ravens Draft Picks from espn.com
Ronnie Stanley, OT, first round: The No. 6 overall pick has been as good as advertised with his athleticism, maturity, intelligence and quiet confidence. There’s a reason why the Ravens are trusting Stanley to protect the blind side of Joe Flacco just one season after he had season-ending knee surgery.
Kamalei Correa, LB, second round: The high-effort converted edge rusher has brought an edge to the defense with his intensity and hits. Correa did slip behind Zachary Orr in the second week of camp, but he has plenty of time to win back the starting spot.
Bronson Kaufusi, DE, third round: A broken ankle during a camp practice ended Kaufusi’s season on Aug. 4. The Ravens are devastated by this redshirt season for Kaufusi, who needs to improve his lower-body strength and flexibility if he wants to improve from No. 3 on the depth chart.
Tavon Young, CB, fourth round: He’s been the biggest surprise of this draft class, because he doesn’t act like an overwhelmed rookie. Young has a legitimate shot at beating Jerraud Powers for the nickelback job.
Chris Moore, WR, fourth round: He produced a 60-yard catch in each of his first two practices before suffering a lower-leg injury in the first week of training camp. In his short time, Moore provided a glimpse of how his speed meshes well with Flacco’s big arm.
Alex Lewis, OL, fourth round: The Ravens gave a big compliment to Lewis when they turned to him to play left tackle after Stanley missed one practice with a soft-tissue injury. He has the potential to replace Rick Wagner, who is in his contract year, at right tackle in 2017.
Willie Henry, DT, fourth round: He is vying for a spot in the Ravens’ deep defensive front. Based on the numbers on the line, it could be difficult for the Ravens to keep Henry on the 53-man roster.
Kenneth Dixon, RB, fourth round: After missing the first week with a sprained knee, Dixon has quickly made up for lost time. He is producing explosive plays in the running and passing game, but he still sits behind Justin Forsett, Buck Allen, and Terrance West on the depth chart.
Matt Judon, LB, fifth round: He’s had a relatively quiet training camp until an impressive showing in the preseason opener. Judon is the top backup at outside linebacker to Za’Darius Smith, but he will likely drop lower when Terrell Suggs is activated off the physically-unable-to-perform list.
Keenan Reynolds, WR-PR, sixth round: It’s been an extremely rough transition from college quarterback. Reynolds drops passes and punts on a daily basis, and he probably needs a very strong preseason to convince the Ravens he can play at this level.
Maurice Canady, WR, sixth round: The Ravens described Canady’s play in offseason workouts this spring as “outstanding.” But He suffered a minor setback in training camp, missing an entire week of practice with an undisclosed injury.
