Following their official visit to Maryland this weekend, Brandon Gaddy and Breyon Gaddy committed to the Terrapins.
“We love the players and coaches,” said Brandon Gaddy, who is the 56th-ranked defensive tackle in the country. “They visit definitely played a big role in our decision. I loved the visit. I loved everything they had planned for us. It was just great.”
“Maryland is a great place and we’re really excited,” said Breyon Gaddy, who is the 24th-ranked defensive tackle in the nation. “As soon as we got there, we felt a connection with the coaches and players. They made us feel welcome. And I know the coaches are going to help us be successful.”
Analysis
Gaddy is a disruptive force at defensive tackle. He’s a big, strong, physical prospect. Gaddy is explosive off the ball and completely overwhelms many of his opponents at the high school level. He also runs extremely well and take good angles when pursuing the football. Gaddy is still raw and must continue to work on technique and develop moves, but he has a huge upside and chance to become a special player in college.

Wide receivers coach Chris Beatty was the lead recruiter for the brothers.
“Coach Beatty is a Virginia guy and I feel like he can help us be the best we can be on and off the field,” Brandon Gaddy said. “He said he’d take care of us and help us be successful at Maryland.”
“Coach Beatty is from this area and he recruits this area,” Breyon Gaddy said. “He’s my guy and has a lot of enthusiasm. I’m just glad that we met him and got to know him during the recruiting process.”
Head coach D.J. Durkin also played a big role in their decision.
“He’s intense and also funny,” Brandon Gaddy said. “He’s smooth and has a swag to him. I excited about having him as a coach.”
“Coach Durkin is a great coach and I like him a lot,” Breyon Gaddy said. “He’s making the program better and taking it to the next level.”
The opportunity to play early also appealed to them.
“Coach Durkin said they played 16 freshman last year and that they need more defensive linemen,” Brandon Gaddy said. “Having a chance to play early also played a big role in our decision.”
“They’re going to play the best people, regardless if their seniors or freshman. So if we go in and work hard and do what the coaches ask, I think we should have a chance to make an early impact.”
According to both brothers, they are firmly committed to Maryland.
