Terps land 3 star LB

A post by Jordan

While the Terptalk gang is heading up to Boston for the lacrosse final four this weekend we can’t forget about the homefront. The Terps football program protected their turf this week by adding Calvert Hall College High School (located in Towson, MD) 3-star linebacker Chance Campbell for the 2018 class.

Campbell received a total of 17 football offers including 10 power 5 offers, notably including Michigan State, West Virginia, and Penn State. Campbell is rated the top inside linebacker in Maryland for the 2018 class by Scout. The 17 year old commit is a good athlete, running a 4.69 40 yard dash and bench pressing 325, with time he should develop well.

Campbell is also a strong lacrosse player and his team has just won the MIAA state lacrosse title, although he has made no mention of continuing his lacrosse career at Maryland. He is the Terps 7th 2018 football commit and the third at linebacker. The Terps usually only play two inside linebackers, this year the starters are projected to be either sophomore Isaiah Davis (Check out our talk with Isaiah here) or senior Shane Cockerille and senior Jermaine Carter Jr. They are thin at linebacker, so any legitimate player has potential to make an immediate impact.
