Maryland Gets First Recruit of 2018 Basketball Class

A Post by Jordan

It finally happened, former Terp great Keith Gatlin has sent his top recruit, top 100 player Aaron Wiggins to College Park. The Terps have struggled to land recruits this cycle, evidenced by falling short on 4-star wings Brandon Slater (Villanova) and Prentiss Hubb (Notre Dame). Wiggins currently plays small forward, however the 6’6 wing is projected to play shooting guard in college. Wiggins received notable offers from Kansas, Florida State, and Florida. Maryland has been considered the front runner for quite some time. Wiggins recently jumped from 84 to 62 in the 24/7 sports rankings, his highest ranking of all the major services, he could keep rising.

Wiggins is one of several high-profile players who have high interest in Maryland, which could make for a very strong 2018 class. In addition to Wiggins the Terps are considered the lead on Jalen Smith (5 star on three of four major recruiting services), and are top contenders on several other 5 stars including Moses Brown, Immanuel Quickley, and Cameron Reddish. By the way, no Aaron Wiggins is not related to Minnesota Timberwolf Andrew Wiggins
