Diamond Stone Released by Hawks

Former Terps Center Diamond Stone was waived by the Atlanta Hawks today. The 20 year old was expected by many to have a real chance to contribute with the rebuilding Hawks this season, but the team’s depth at the center position (Dwayne Dedmon, Mike Muscala, and Miles Plumlee) was apparently enough to make the team think otherwise.

Stone will likely clear waivers as he has little NBA experience and the market is flooded with middle of the road bigs. He will probably be playing in the G-League (formerly the D-League) again this season. Seeing how he is only 20 years old it is possible that the Stone will get another NBA chance, but if he doesn’t, he will probably join the pantheon of Terp EuroLeague stars.
