COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland Head Coach DJ Durkin announced that defensive back Kenric Montgomery, Jr. has signed a national letter of intent to play football for the Terrapins. Montgomery joins the 22 future Terps that inked NLI’s during the early signing period in December to complete Maryland’s 2018 signing class.
Entering the day, Maryland’s signing class ranked among the Top 30 in every major recruiting outlet. The class ranks as high as No. 26 according to both Rivals and Scout/247Sports.
Montgomery, a 6-foot-2, 165-pound cornerback out of Tampa, Florida (Hillsborough High School), is a member of the ESPN300 and is rated as a four-star recruit by both ESPN and 247Sports.
Montgomery, who choose the Terps over offers from Nebraska, Louisville and UCLA, becomes the ninth player on Maryland’s roster from Florida.
Maryland’s 2018 signing class includes five consensus four-star signees and three members of the ESPN300.
The 23 student-athletes hail from six different states and the District of Columbia. The signing class is highlighted by 15 players who attended high school in the DMV area and nine players who earned All-MET honors.
Four of the Top 10 and eight of the Top 25 players from the state of Maryland signed with the Terps (per Rivals). Additionally, two of the Top 10 players from Washington D.C. and four of the Top 20 players from Virginia also pledged to play at Maryland.
The Terps are set to begin Spring Practice on Monday, March 5. Ten of Maryland’s 23 signees are early enrollees and will participate in Spring Practice.

Another game lost because of the most inept half court offense in the Big Ten coached by the most inept coach in the Big Ten. Game after game the TV announcers criticize the aimless offense. We need to pass the ball not just dribble until there is 10 seconds on the clock. Anthony Cowan’s talent is being wasted. He must get his teammates involved in the offense and not just look for his shot first. Maybe if Turgeon coached him that would happen. This team is not as bad as it looks it is just Turgeon is as bad as he looks
