What They’re Saying

“We’re excited to welcome Trace to the University of Maryland. Trace is a great young man with a terrific family; he’ll be a great fit for our entire program. He loves playing basketball, and you can always find him in the gym. He’s a really skilled player who can play multiple positions. His combination of toughness and work ethic makes us confident that he has a tremendous upside.” — Mark Turgeon

“I’m really excited to join a successful program, and play and learn from someone like Coach Turgeon. Maryland is a great basketball program with strong tradition, and I’m excited I have a chance to build upon that. It is an outstanding university, and I’m excited to pursue a degree in  business. I really enjoyed the process of getting to know Coach Turgeon. He’s extremely down to earth and he took an interest in me not only as a player, but as a person. I enjoyed getting to know my new teammates; it’s a family oriented and close knit group. I was really impressed with the facilities at Maryland. Being from Indiana I’m a fan of the Big Ten. I’ve had the ability to watch Maryland and I’m really impressed with the impact they’ve had on the conference. Much like Indiana, the state of Maryland loves basketball, and I just can’t wait to be a part of this great program.” —  Trace Ramsey

“We are thrilled to be a part of Maryland basketball. It is a program with rich tradition, and the university has an outstanding reputation as an academic institution. Coach Turgeon’s track record and ability to develop talented players speaks for itself. This convinced us, and certainly Trace, that Maryland is the best fit and place for him to continue his basketball career and education.” — Trace’s Parents, Bob Ramsey and Kim Wallace

“Trace is a very focused young man who came to work every day. He had a great work ethic, and on many occasions came to the gym on his own. He came here and set out to what he wanted to accomplish. Trace plays with an edge, and a toughness. He’s a versatile defender, who can switch off ball screens and defend four different positions. Trace has great length and athleticism; he’s a good passer and has a strong understanding of the game. He’s a winner, a great teammate and will do whatever it takes to put his team in a position to be a successful. Trace’s best basketball is ahead of him.” — Dave Maravilla, Head Coach Bosco Institute

“Trace is a very solid all-around young man. He shoots left, but he can really go hard with his right hand. He’s 6-7, has great vision and is a good passer. He’s very athletic and is a quality shooter. Trace can defend all four positions 1-4, and I really think that’s a strong point that Mark Turgeon likes about him. He’s the kind of kid you can win championships with. I’m excited for Trace that he’s going to play for Coach Turgeon at Maryland. Coach Turgeon has strong values and will be a great coach, teacher and mentor for Trace. He’s the kind of guy I want my kids playing for.” — Wayne Brumm, Head Coach A2P (AAU)
