Starting #2 guard OJ Mayo for the Grizzlies commented on the abilities of Greivis

“Mayo, a fourth-year veteran at shooting guard, started the first two summer league games in an attempt to learn the point guard position. Mayo shared the back court with Vasquez at times and quickly took a liking to him. “He’s a poised player, a player who loves to compete,” Mayo said of Vasquez. “It’s going to be different because the speed of the game is … Read More »

I had the pleasure of being in the company of ex Terrapin great Steve Hood from Dematha High on Tuesday. Some of the things we discussed:

—Steve was recruited by and thought the world of Lefty. When Lefty left before his freshman year, he decided to stay at Maryland with the new head coach Bob Wade. Had he left, he would have had to give up a year of eligibilty.

—Steve left Maryland after his sophomore year joining the Lefthander at … Read More »

I watched the interview of a Coach I admit to revering on Bryant Gumbel’s Real Sports on HBO and was very disappointed in his lame avoidance of responsibility. What really upsets me is how he ran from the problem and helped destroy the football heritage of a University that idolized him. The penalties would have come and passed, the damage was done, the compliance people are now in force but the guy in charge skipped town unscathed. Listen, Pete Carroll … Read More »

terrapintimes.com reports that Sean, Adrian, Jordan, Cliff and Dino are playing in unison together. This week he is going head to head with the Lakers point guard Steve Blake—sounds great to hear that doesn’t it

I am not surprised in the least. I have had the pleasure of watching Will on the lacrosse field for 2 years. He takes a pounding and more then dishes out one and never complains about the physical attacks he absorbs because of his size.  I have watched Will leave 2 or 3 defenders in his wake. Terrapintimes.com reports that Will is displaying great catching instincts —  if this is true I can’t wait to watch him shred tacklers after … Read More »

“There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team. But that’s … things are different. I can’t say that’s a bad thing. It’s an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.”—Michael Jordan

“Mike and I are in 100 percent agreement on this. If you’re the two-time defending NBA MVP, you don’t leave anywhere. They come … Read More »
