A red-hot night for the Alabama Crimson Tide left the Maryland Terrapins hopeless in a 96-77 loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Despite getting significantly outrebounded throughout the game, the Maryland Terrapins moved on to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament after defeating the UConn Huskies 63-54 Saturday night at the home court of the Purdue Boilermakers Mackey Arena. Another scorchingly hot start for the Maryland Terrapins slowly unraveled into a double-digit loss against the Michigan Wolverines 79-66 in the quarterfinal of the B1G Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Terps couldn’t keep pace after the game turned into a shootout towards the end of the first half. A seven day lay-off couldn’t stop the Maryland Terrapins’ momentum as they came out of the gates hot and never backed off, taking down the Michigan State Spartans 73-55 for their fifth straight victory. The Terps finished the contest shooting an astonishing 23/24 from the free throw line. Combine that with four double-digit scorers and 33 percent shooting from Michigan State, Maryland showed out when it mattered most and played a complete game.

The Maryland Terrapins secured their third win in four days, as they took down the Nebraska Cornhuskers for the second straight night 79-71. Junior guards Aaron Wiggins and Eric Ayala led the way with 22 and a career-high 24 points respectively. Maryland (13-10 ; 7-9) is building up a head of steam and beginning to set themselves up nicely to secure an NCAA tournament bid.

A strong first 14 minutes during which they built a six point lead against the fourth ranked Ohio State Buckeyes turned into an ugly final 26 minutes for the Maryland Terrapins who fell by a final score of 73-65 to the Buckeyes in College Park Monday night.
