The University of Maryland athletic department finished 32nd in the final 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings after capturing a national title in women’s lacrosse and advancing to the NCAA Final Four in men’s lacrosse last month.

Maryland women’s basketball All-American and three-time ACC Player of the Year Alyssa Thomas has been named ACC Female Athlete of the Year for the 2013-14 academic year, as voted upon by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).

The national champion Maryland women’s lacrosse team will be honored in a pregame ceremony at the Baltimore Orioles’ game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Camden Yards Saturday.
The Terps and the national championship trophy will be on full display prior to first pitch of the O’s/Rays game which is slated for a 4:05 p.m. start.

One difficult but brilliant move turned Team USA into a Band of Brothers–a real team. That was obviously leaving perhaps the greatest USA soccer player ever off the squad–Landon Donovan. When Landon plays all eyes seem to be on him including those of his teammates. There is no one player dominance on this squad. Even without Jozy Altidore the TEAM advanced. A bold, daring but successful move by Tottenham’s great Captain.
