Free-agent closer Grant Balfour has reached an agreement on a two-year contract with theBaltimore Orioles, according to multiple media reports.

Nate was a tremendous addition to Kevin Anderson’s staff. I was always impressed with the passion he had for the teams that he oversaw. Over his tenure at Maryland, I got to know Nate very well, sometimes being a sounding board for the myriad of ideas he had for the university. I wish him the best of luck and know that Maryland’s loss is Holy Cross’ gain.

Freshman Roddy Peters has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week after guiding the Maryland men’s basketball team to a pair of victories against Boston College and Florida Atlantic. This is the first career conference honor for Peters.
