South African president Jacob Zuma made the announcement at a news conference late Thursday, saying, “We’ve lost our greatest son.”

I never met Nelson Mandela, but I stood outside his house with a hundred others in the barbed-wire ghetto of Soweto in 1995, one year after his election, wondering whether we might glimpse the great man.
Then I spent three days in that massive slum and saw what Mandela was up against. I saw it through the prism of sports in Soweto then, or what passed for sports.

Both of these teams were booed during the intros.
Shaq’s production is just down. Will Mitchell get the starting role against GW? I thought Mitchell was excellent against Ohio State –fighting for every ball, scoring, rebounding. Perhaps he could help us get off to better start.

Pitta is a big-time red-zone target. Of his nine touchdown receptions last year, including three in … Read More »

Maryland must figure a way to win these out of conference road games. Tonight OSU was clearly better. The Terps fell behind early and played catch up unsuccessfully.
Here are the highlights of Coach Turgeon’s post game comments:
On Ohio State’s performance
