At one point in the 2nd half the Terps were up 44-25 and then it seemed the roof caved in , as the Friars closed the gap to 2 but never tied or took the lead. Why? Because Dez Wells took over the game when the Terps were in deep trouble. The tornament MVP scored 6 in crunch time to help preserve the victory.

Tonight is the best I have felt about this year’s Maryland basketball team. Turgeon cut his rotation down to 8 men and there was certainly more cohesiveness evident.

Smotrycz is an extreme streak shooter. He is rarely lukewarm. Early in the game he could not hit the side of a barn. In the 2nd half –he was on fire.
Simon finished second on the University of Maryland‘s all-time charts for receptions (185) and receiving yards (2,059), and caught 10 career touchdown passes. As a senior, he caught 35 passes for 534 yards and 3 touchdowns. He had his best season as a sophomore, setting an ACC record with 77 catches for 891 yards and 5 touchdowns.
