With its season opener against Florida International 11 days away, the Maryland football team held its final open practice on Tuesday afternoon at the on-campus practice facility.

Preseason camp is set to break Thursday after morning meetings with the players moving into their permanent residences that afternoon. The Terps will hold a walk-thru Wednesday morning with a full practice later in the day.

Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, has named former Maryland All-American Lee Zink of the Denver Outlaws, the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year, as voted by MLL coaches and general managers.

The No. 2 Maryland men’s soccer team tied Penn State 1-1 in exhibition action Tuesday night at Jeffrey Field.

Following a Mark Wadid goal for Penn State in the seventh minute, Patrick Mullins gave Maryland the equalizer in the 37th minute on a penalty kick.

The Terps outshot Penn State 13-3 in the match and held the Nittany Lions without a corner kick while registering six of their own.

 Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller will serve a six-game suspension under the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, a violation the linebacker said did not result from a positive test.

The league wanted a longer penalty for the third-year linebacker, but the sides agreed to less than half the season.
