With Maryland trailing 12-11, fifth-ranked Josh Asper took the mat at Comcast Pavilion for the final time and recorded a pin with 28 seconds left to send the 24th-ranked Terps past George Mason for a 23-15 victory Thursday night.
Asper’s third fall of the season was fitting for the senior’s final dual at Comcast Pavilion. The Atlantic Coast Conference has selected Owen Blye (Men’s Lacrosse), A.J. Francis (Football) and Katie Schwarzmann (Women’s Lacrosse) for the Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship Award for 2013.
ACC Commissioner, John D. Swofford, announced on Wednesday the 36 student-athletes who have been honored with this award.

Alyssa Thomas scored a career-high 30 points and notched 12 rebounds to lead No. 8 Maryland to an 86-61 win at Boston College Thursday. Tianna Hawkins grabbed her 1000th career rebound in the win.
Hawkins scored 15 points, Malina Howard has 11, and Alicia DeVaughn added 10 points and eight rebounds for Maryland (22-4, 13-2 ACC). Thomas notched her 16th double-double of the season, which leads the ACC.

Maryland midfielder Katie Schwarzmann and goalkeeper Kasey Howard have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, announced Tuesday.
Schwarzmann moved up to No. 5 on Maryland’s all-time goals list (180) with a career-high seven goals in a 19-11 win at No. 2 Syracuse Sunday.

To say the defending national champions are a talented team would be to completely sell the Greyhounds short.
This is as talented team as there is in the country with All-Americans at every position.
