The difference was point guard play. The Terps had 4 assists and 15 turnovers and the U had 15 assists and 8 turnovers.

Alyssa Thomas had 26 points, a career-high 18 rebounds, six assists and three blocks and No. 10 Maryland took charge from the opening tip and beat Virginia Tech 74-45 on Sunday at Cassell Coliseum.
Thomas, the reigning ACC player of the year, led the Terrapins (13-3, 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), who won for the ninth time in 10 games. Tianna Hawkins added 14 points and freshman Tierney Pfirman and Katie Rutan each scored 11.
The 10th-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team will trek to Blacksburg, Va. this weekend to take on Virginia Tech Sunday at 2 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum.
