Maryland’s Joe Vellanowas voted to the second team of the 2011 Walter Camp All-America team.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation made the announcement Thursday evening as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.
A two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference choice (second team in 2010; first team in 2011), Vellano posted 94 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, four pass breakups and two fumble recoveries this season.

Maryland junior offensive tackle R.J. Dill has been granted his release in order to transfer to another institution.
“We wish R.J. well in his future athletic and academic pursuits,” head coach Randy Edsall said Tuesday evening. “We appreciate the commitment and effort R.J. has given to the Maryland football program.”

This is a huge day for Maryland football. 5’9 210 athlete Kenneth Goins has verballed to to the University of Maryland. Tremendous athletes from Baltimore’s football powerhouse have eluded the Terps since 1984. Perhaps this triggers a change.
