This is the weekend every NCAA Division I track and field coach and student-athlete have been pointing toward all year.
According to Maryland head coach Andrew Valmon, the final rounds of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are the product of successful careers for seniors Kiani Profit and Zack Ray, and junior Jon Hill.
“This group of athletes has led by example throughout their career,” said Valmon, who next month will be the head coach of Team USA at the … Read More »
From following the super interactive website online, certain facts are clear. at this point in the process it is surprising so many lower bowl seats are available. It seems like many Terrapin club members are opting for seats upstairs between the lines rather then sitting behind the basket. For those of you still waiting for your selection day, when the lowers are gone there will be many great seats in the lower rows of the 200 level. At one point I … Read More »
I was at a Wizards (NBA team in Washington) game a few years back against the Celtics. Down by 2 with seconds left, Paul Pierce was blanketed by 2 Bullets, he steeped back and fired a 40 footer through the twine and the Celts won. He is the most underrated clutch player in the game and it was his 3 point dagger that virtually sealed the win over the Heat in Game 5. When it comes to crunch time the … Read More »
What was JJ thinking in the 9th, Saltalamacchia was fouling off pitch after pitch never being fooled by Johnson. Then JJ served up a gopher ball which tied the game up. Remarkably the O’s scored 2 in the 10th and won the game. This game had loss written all over it. Only Buck can keep pulling rabbits out of the hat.
For those critics of the NBA game, you should have been watching tonight’s 5th game of the best of 7 series between San Antonio, the “Old Guard” and the Thunder. The Spurs looked old, slow and way to dependent on Manu Ginobli. Kevin Durant barely touched the ball in the final minutes relying on clutch shots from super sub James Harden. Don’t count the Spurs out just yet. The close out game can be brutal.
Kevin Mooney and Alex Robinson, who have signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Maryland this fall, have been named Gatorade State Baseball Players of the Year in Maryland and New York, respectively.
A right-handed pitcher and outfielder, Mooney led North Harford High School to the Maryland Class 3A state final, pitching a perfect game and striking out 13 in the semifinal to beat North Hagerstown. On the season, Mooney went 9-1 with a 0.30 ERA and … Read More »

The Orioles tonight selected RHP KEVIN GAUSMAN of Louisiana State University with their first selection in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, the fourth overall pick of the Draft.
Gausman, 21, is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound draft-eligible sophomore from Centennial, CO. He went 11-1 with a 2.72 ERA, 128 strikeouts, 27 walks and two complete games in 16 starts for LSU this season. Gausman was 5-6 with a 3.51 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 89.2 innings in his freshman season in 2011.
Of course with my good buddy Rick Jaklitsch at the helm of the MGN, success is almost guaranteed. Thousnads of dollars for the football program were raised through ticket sales and a silent auction. I sat at a table with Assistant Head Coach Greg Gattuso. A quiet confidence exists amongst the coaches. You can’t be around this program without feeling the unity and bonding together . Johnny Holliday hosted the event which officially was a pairings party for tomorrow’s golf … Read More »
