– Sander Beck allowed just two hits in six scoreless innings, Tomo Delp blasted a three-run homer in a five-run third inning and Maryland beat Bucknell 8-3 Wednesday evening.

The Terps (19-12) improved to 16-3 in non-conference games, including a 9-1 mark at home, with a familiar formula of pitching, defense and a balanced offensive attack.

Alfredo Rodriguez went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, while Kyle Convissar and K.J. Hockaday had two hits apiece.

This isn’t the Navy we’ve come to know over the past 15 or so years. There’s a new admiral (the “new sheriff in town” metaphor just didn’t seem appropriate for Navy) on deck for this Midshipmen team as Rick Sowell is in his first year as the Mids head coach.

Sowell came to Annapolis from Stony Brook, where his Seawolf teams were known for their high-scoring offenses and middle-of-the-road defenses. The last three seasons, Stony Brook was ranked among the … Read More »

When Tiger and Hank Haney split, the golf world was shocked that Le Tigre hired Sean Foley. Nobody is laughing any more. Tiger is hitting greens in regulation at an amazing clip. Only the incredible play of the future first pick in the NBA draft saved him. Bobby Knight said on the Mike and Mike show monday that Davis might be the next Bill Russell. He certainly was Monday night. 16 rebounds, 6 blocks, and probably 12 alterations … Read More »

Some of my takes over the years:

Yes in 1983, I was in the upper deck of Memorial Stadium screaming Elway Sucks til I couldn’t talk. Here’s hoping Elway and Peyton fail miserably in Denver

Yes, I screamed at Jim Gray after his portrayal of Jeffrey Maier as a hero—Stan the Fan was a witness

Yes, I never miss a chance to criticize Jimmy Irsay and now he has tossed out his HOF QB like yesterdays news
