Mike Parker, a four-star rated athlete by Rivals from Nokesville, Virginia (Kettle Run High School), committed to the Terps on Twitter Tuesday evening.

Parker is a 6-foot-3, 205-lb. corner and wideout rated as the fifth-best overall “athlete position” by Rivals, and the 114th-best overall prospect in the 2013 signing class. Per Rivals, Parker had offers from Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Boston College and Stanford, among others.

At least there was some good news last night!!!

Sophomore Alyssa Thomas of the Maryland women’s basketball team is one of five players named to the Associated Press All-America First Team announced Tuesday.

Thomas, the 2012 ACC Player of the Year, is joined on the First Team by Baylor’s Brittney Griner, Notre Dame’s Skylar Diggins, Stanford’s Nneka Ogwumike and Delaware’s Elena Delle Donne.

One year ago Sam Cassell Jr. was a “rotation guy” at Notre Dame Prep with mid-major offers and high-major interest.  Domonique Foxworth, who played football for the University of Maryland in 2001-2004, was recently elected as president of the NFL Players Association.

Currently a free-agent cornerback Foxworth was elected by the Broncos as a player representative. The next year he became the youngest vice president of the NFLPA Executive Committee.

Sam Cassell Jr. is the newest member of Maryland’s strong 2012 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-2 son of the former NBA sharpshooter pulled the trigger for the Terps while home on break, choosing them over South Florida, Florida State, Villanova, UConn and Virginia Tech.
