Yes –one could certainly make the case that had Jordan Williams returned to Maryland he would have been a 1st round pick next year. But he didn’t and that’s that. However, Avery Johnson wanted him on the NJ Nets and the reat is history. Jordan should get to play for Avery johnson. Here is an analysis of the pick from espn.com:

Laura Merrifield was tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in women’s lacrosse, as announced Wednesday by league commissioner John Swofford. Merrifield tallied 45 goals and five assists as a senior captain for the ACC champion Terps. In 2011, the midfielder racked up 18 ground balls and 18 draw controls, while tying for second in the league in game-winning goals with four. Merrifield, a kinesiology major from Hertfordshire, England, garnered IWLCA First Team All-America status this season.

Men’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year Brett Schmidt of Maryland leads the 2011 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. In addition to Schmidt, four other Terps, sophomore Owen Blye and seniors Dan Burns, Grant Catalino and Brian Farrell were named to the All-ACC Academic team.
