One could not help but be emotionally involved in this Terrapin lacrosse family. It was so evident when you watched the jubilation of the bench every time something happened positive happened for Maryland on the field. What made Coach Tillman so upset today was the valiant effort on and off the field all year for Maryland. After the game ended I had a chance to commiserate with the Coach and he felt so bad for the Seniors, the team, the … Read More »
Some Random Observations of the game itself
Absolutely unbelievable—Middie Colin Briggs was suspended Saturday, one of many for Virginia over the year, and had that extra step to score 5 times and lead UVA to another title. When I first heard that Starsia didn’t play him on Saturday, I thought maybe this was a great move—resting a star of the team to have a physical edge. It is absolutely incredible that Steele Stanwyck had but one point and yet UVA … Read More »
I have said all I can. The Terps vs The Hoos. Maryland needs to win it’s 2nd ACC Title in the past 2 months. But the stakes are different Monday. It’s for the whole enchalada. The UVA faithful are already celebrating. Many have told me the Cavs and Steele are a mortal lock. We will see when the Cavs and the Terps enter the Neutral venue of M&T. As the late Macho Man would say “OH YEA!!” as Mils Lane … Read More »
Ok it’s sour grapes. At least I admit it is—unlike NW coach Amonte Hiller who wined about the refs last year. The Wildcats somehow devised a great defensive strategy to stop the Terrapin dynamic trio of Millison, Scharzmann, and Merrifeld. NW controlled the draws, and got clutch goalie play. Shannon Smith dented the nets 4 times for the Wildcats.
Some points:
Here is Amonte Hiller’s Post Game Opning Statement ““Obviously I’m just so happy right now, so proud of … Read More »
Some observations of one of the most enjoyable games I have ever been to:
—Terrapin Nation was out in full force and certainly inspired the entire team. Chills wewt up and down my spine as the state flag lead the tean on the field.
— Let’s get one thing straight: Duke is not our rival in lacrosse. Johns Hopkins is, was and always will be.
—I thought Joe Cummings presence was crucial tonight as the defense had to deal with … Read More »
He seems as confident as ever. I just learned the one of the great pep talkers of all time Richie Meade gave the terrapins a pep talk last night. Duke enters the field to a huge chorus of boos. The stadium is beginning to fill up in red. 33 minutes before game time.
Coach Pietramala must be going nuts. UVA is making mincenmeat of Denver–getting on top early and coasting. So with THE game waiting to be played the much maligned ACC teams are the only ones left standing. I wonder what the SOS will be for Maryland today.

Coach Danowski doesn’t believe the sea of red will effect his team. This will be a special game and could be a special weekend. Some facts:
The Terps and Duke split during the year. Both games were close though the Terps sort of dominated the 2nd half in Game 2.
Maybe I am too close to the program. I will leave the Press Box and blend in with the thousands of Maryland faithful in the crowd. i will nervously watch … Read More »
