Phil in 2 years stay home before you Mikklesenize any other US players. Lefty lost all 3 of his matches and put his kabash on Dustin Johnson who also is 0-3.  The only US player really standing out is Stewart Cink. Luke Donald, Ian Poulter, and Lee Westwood have all been spectacular for Europe, who leads 9 1/2 to 6 1/2. The selection of Corey Pavin will prove to … Read More »

Well, it wasn’t pretty but the Terps held on to a hard fought victory. Tony Logan’s 85 yard  punt return turned the tide Maryland’s way. Some observations of an important victory.

Everyone is expecting way too much of QB1 Danny O”Brien. He started off slow again and picked up as the game went on. Perhaps he might need to open up a little earlier in the game! For a freshman he has been playing superb. Danny was 9-26 for 170 … Read More »

What happened? After the morning session the USA was up 6-4 after Stewie (Tiger’s name for him) Cink sunk a 50 footer on 17 and Rory McElroy choked down the stretch. Then about 3 hours later I looked at my blackberry and saw the USA was down in all 6 afternoon matches, whick were suspended for darkness. Tiger and Sticks (Steve Stricker) were 5 down after 9. The USA must salvage at least 1 point to have any chance of … Read More »

I wtached the game with execs from Fox Sports who were covering the game nationally and the director said that Maryland Soccer is clearly the strongest most successful college soccer program in the country.

Matt Kassel registered his fourth goal of the year when his penalty kick score gave Maryland (5-2-1, 2-1-1 ACC) the early lead at 33:25. … Read More »

There was no last second miracle this time around. The No. 5/7 University of Maryland women’s soccer team sloshed its way to a hard-fought 3-2 win over No. 6/9 Virginia at a rain-soaked Ludwig Field Thursday night.  Maryland (9-0-1, 1-0-1 ACC) got a measure of payback on the Cavaliers (7-2-1, 1-1-0) for last season’s result in Charlottesville when the Wahoos scored with one second remaining on the clock to tie the game at 2-2, which it was how it would … Read More »
