The Maryland men’s and women’s basketball programs officially kicked off the 2016-17 basketball season with Maryland Madness Friday night at the XFINITY Center.
The highlights included a dunk competition with freshman Micah Thomas, senior L.G. Gill and freshman Kevin Huerter. The judges included a list of Maryland greats including Tom McMillen, Lonny Baxer, Byron Mouton, Vicki Brick and Walt Williams. In addition, Comcast SportsNet anchor Chick Hernandez also judged the contest.
I’m sure it’s no solace to Nats’ fans, but what an incredible game, albeit a “little” too long.
What can you say about Clayton Kershaw, who after pitching on Tuesday came back on one days rest to get the final 2 out and save the victory.
Dave Roberts, the unorthodox manager of the Dodgers, brought in closer Kenley Jansen in the 7th inning and got 2 1/3 shutout innings from him before bringing in Kershaw.
