The University of Maryland men’s lacrosse team has been selected as the number one overall seed for the 2016 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
The Terps, which received an automatic bid by winning the Big Ten Tournament, will play the winner of Quinnipiac and Hartford on Sunday, May 15 at 12:30 p.m. at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. The top-seed Maryland men’s lacrosse team opened with six straight goals and never looked back as it defeated 4-seed Penn State, 16-9, in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals Thursday evening at Homewood Field. The win marked the Terrapins’ 12th consecutive victory, matching the program record set by the 1987 team.
The Terps (13-2) will face Rutgers who defeated Hopkins 14-12 semifinal in the Big Ten Tournament Finals Saturday evening at 6 pm on ESPN2.
