The SB Nation site Swish Appeal has reported that Maryland women’s basketball, star point Guard Lexie Brown has requested her release from Maryland and will transfer for the 2015-16 season. Brown, who gave her verbal commitment to Maryland as a high school freshman has been instrumental in helping guide the Terps to consecutive Final Four appearances for the first time in program history.

Make no bones about it–this one really hurts. After a miraculous game and victory over Johns Hopkins on Saturday, I never saw this kind of a game coming. It was almost a carbon copy of the NCAA Championship loss to Loyola. “I think she’s a great player. Watching her on film, she’s obviously very committed, she works hard on the field. Even when she doesn’t have the ball in her stick, I think she gives them a tremendous boost on the ride. She plays with a lot of confidence and swagger and just pure instinct. Unfortunately, she is NOT graduating this year, so we have to deal with her for another three years. She’s great.”
