Stefon Diggs is a known commodity in Maryland.

He first caught the eye of college coaches around the country as a blue-chip recruit of Good Counsel High School. He then surprised many around college football circles by deciding to stay home and attend the University of Maryland as one of the school’s most-heralded recruits.

He’s now headed to the NFL after three years at Maryland, and he likes the idea of playing professional ball in his home state … Read More »

Observations on another tight Home Win for Maryland:

Here is a simple stat–Melo had 26 points on but 9 shots—his line  7-9 from the field including the 2 huge treys, 10-11 from the foul line, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 turnovers in 37 minutes. Did I forget to say he was double teamed the entire game. Melo just let the game come to him. His final trey had to be from 25 ft, an NBA variety.

Dez proved again that … Read More »

Maryland is ahead of schedule in the Big Ten.

The preseason favorites to win the league locked up a share of the regular-season title and the top seed in the conference tournament by beating Wisconsin 81-70 on Thursday night for the Terrapins’ 18th straight win.

That’s one big goal checked off the to-do list with three games still left in the inaugural year of Big Ten play for No. 5 Maryland (24-2, 15-0).

“Really proud of this group. It’s not … Read More »

Maryland made a change at defensive coordinator on Thursday, replacing Brian Stewart and promoting inside linebackers coach Keith Dudzinski.

The Terrapins and Stewart “mutually agreed to part ways,” according to a statement from the school. Stewart, who spent the past three seasons as the team’s defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach, will not be retained in a different role.

Dudzinski, 46, has served as the team’s inside linebackers coach for the past four seasons. He was a defensive coordinator at … Read More »

Alex Ovechkin insists he saw the puck, put his hands together and tried to give it a whack, only to see Kris Letang’s right foot get in the way at the last second.

The fallout might have reignited the once-heated rivalry between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals.

Letang lost his balance and crumpled to the ice before briefly going to the trainer’s room after getting clubbed by Ovechkin, who skated away without a penalty. Pittsburgh’s too-frequent attempts at … Read More »

My comments—The Terps are vastly superior to this Spartan team but give Sparty credit, MSU hung in to the end.

Fueled by five players in double-digit scoring, the No. 5 Maryland women’s basketball team edged past Michigan State, 75-69, at the Breslin Center Monday evening. The Terrapins extended their win streak to 17 games and remain unbeaten in Big Ten play.

Brionna Jones scored 17 points to lead the Terrapins while Laurin Mincy and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough added 15. Lexie Brown … Read More »
