Coming off its first Super Regional appearance in program history, the Maryland baseball team has been picked to win the Big Ten Conference by multiple outlets Tuesday.

Both D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game placed the Terps at the top of their respective Big Ten preseason standings. Maryland is entering its first season in the conference after earning an all-time best 40 victories last season.

Lexie Brown scored 19 points, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough added 17 and No. 5 Maryland remained unbeaten in the Big Ten with its 16th consecutive victory, 80-69 over No. 18 Rutgers on Tuesday night at XFINITY Center.

Dean Smith, the coaching innovator who won two national championships at North Carolina, an Olympic gold medal in 1976 and induction into basketball’s Hall of Fame more than a decade before he left the bench, has died. He was 83.

The retired coach died “peacefully” at his North Carolina home Saturday night, the school said in a statement Sunday from Smith’s family. He was with his wife and five children.

Lexie Brown scored 14 points to help No. 5 Maryland (21-2, 12-0 B1G) extend its winning streak to 15 games with a 59-47 victory over No. 19 Nebraska (17-6, 7-5) Sunday at XFINITY Center.

Brionna Jones had 12 points and 9 rebounds for the Terrapins, who are riding their longest winning streak since going 16-0 to start the 2011 season. Malina Howard also finished with 12 points for Maryland.

Today’s game was not Big Ten Basketball at its Best

Not much to say after another humiliating loss on the road but:

17-2 after 11 minutes–is that even conceivable–2 points?

Today’s game shows how ridiculous criticism of Melo’s shooting has been–he was 7-12 from the field with 20 points and had 4 foul shot attempts taken from him. Take away Melo’s line and the Terps shot 11-38 from the field or 29%
