Freshman defensive midfielder Matt Neufeldt has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after a breakout week in which he helped lead the Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a pair of victories over No. 11 Penn and Drexel. It is the second Defensive Player of the Week honor for the Terps and first overall for Neufeldt.

The Naperville, Ill., product had an excellent week defensively for the 9th-ranked Terps, picking up eight ground balls and causing five turnovers.

Brenda’s squad has done it again. Imagine losing 2 time ACC POY Alyssa Thomas, and not missing a beat the following year.The Terps end the regular season at 27-2 going into the BIG TEN tournament.

Freshmen Megan Whittle and Taylor Hensh each scored hat tricks as the No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team (3-0) pushed past Hofstra (2-2) in a dominant 14-6 win Saturday afternoon.

Whittle notched three goals for the second straight game, while Hensh tallied her first collegiate goals against the Pride. Taylor Cummings, Brooke Griffin and Kristen Lamon each scored twice, while Kelly McPartland and Caroline Wannen added goals. Cummings finished the game with five points (2G, 3A) to pace the Terrapins.

Jay Carlson notched his first hat trick of the season to lead the No. 10 Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a 12-3 victory over Drexel on Saturday afternoon at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.

The Terps came out flat today on Senior day according to head coach Mark Turgeon which is to expected after the emotional win Tuesday over Wisconsin. Early on Dez and Melo were not on all cylinders. 

But as the 1st half continued, Melo took over culminating in a back breaking trey to give the Terps a 30-21 lead. The 2nd half was dominated by a rain of treys lead by 3 treys from Jared Nickens.
