University of Maryland place-kicker Brad Craddock has been selected as a finalist for the 23rd Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Tuesday.
Craddock, Maryland’s first-ever Groza finalist, is one of three student-athletes vying for the honor. The junior is joined by Florida State’s Roberto Aguayo, who won the award in 2013, and West Virginia’s Josh Lambert.

Melo Trimble kept Maryland within striking distance with his slashing layups and ability to get to the foul line. When the game was on the line, it was time for Dez Wells to shine.
The gritty guard scored all but two of his 14 points in the second half, and teamed with Trimble to make several key baskets down the stretch, helping Maryland to a 78-73 victory over Arizona State on Monday night in the semifinals of the CBE Classic.
Redshirt senior Laurin Mincy helped lead the eighth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team to its fifth straight victory with a 65-43 win over Loyola (Md.) on Monday night.
Mincy scored 13 points and sophomore Brionna Jones added a season-high 12 points with seven rebounds for the Terrapins (5-0). Lexie Brown finished with 11 points and has scored in double figures in every game this season for Maryland.

Former Maryland men’s basketball head coach Gary Williams was enshrined in the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2014 on Sunday.

The eighth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team pushed through a tough first half and won at George Washington, 75-65, Saturday afternoon. Redshirt senior Laurin Mincy took over in the second half for 23 points, including 21 in the second period, for the win.
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough had 16 points, and Lexie Brown added 14 points. The Terrapins (4-0) opened the second half by going more than nine minutes without turning the ball over.
