Just a few thoughts:

Yes the defense played well, but conversely the offense had trouble with the Zone. Melo, Nickens, Dion, and Pack shot a combined 10-30. To Turgeon’s credit, he made some solid adjustments at halftime as the Terps played a much better 2nd half. But expect to see Herb Sendek (Arizona State) play lots of zone on Monday.

Another strong energy game for Jake Layman. He was 5-6 from the field and scored 12.

Sophomore Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 17 of her career-high 25 points in the first half to lead No. 8 Maryland to an 85-67 victory over No. 25 South Florida Wednesday night at the XFINITY Center.

Sophomore Lexie Brown added 15 points and redshirt senior Laurin Mincy had 10 for the Terrapins (3-0). Junior Malina Howard had her first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman Kristen Confroy also had 11 points off the bench for Maryland.
