While we did not see Daniel Ezeagwu (Colonial Forge/Stafford, Va.) live this year, we were able to break down film sent to us of the newest Maryland cornerback commitment. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder played both receiver and defensive back for Colonial Forge, though the Terps are recruiting him for defense (he said he’ll play boundary cornerback).

Just a few points to make about this fantastic game:

I was sitting behind WNBA Coach and former NBA tough guy Bill Laimbeer, who was rooting his heart out for the Irish while scouting the probably 6 or 7 future WNBA stars playing.  As usual Alyssa Thomas was stupendous scoring 29 with 12 rebound and 5 assists.

The Terrapins men’s lacrosse team played two scrimmages Saturday at Byrd Stadium, defeating Bucknell, 9-8, and Towson, 14-5, in its first organized competition of the year.

Temperatures hovered around freezing for most of the afternoon with wind chills making it feel even colder, and the unforgiving weather caused sloppy play from the Terps early against the Bison, who jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Team USA White won the intrasquad competition at the Champion Challenge in Florida on Sunday, beating the Blue squad 12-5. The game served as the final tryout before coach Richie Meade and staff trim down the roster to 30 players in preparation for the 2014 FIL World Championships.

Meade said on the broadcast that “four or five” players were on the bubble fighting for spots

The Maryland wrestling team edged North Carolina, 18-15, for its first ACC victory of the season Friday night. Spencer Myers clinched the contest with a technical fall victory in the final match of the night.

Billy Rappo and Tyler Goodwin gave the Terps production at the lower weights, while No. 1 Jimmy Sheptock and Ty Snook put Myers in a position to clinch the match with runaway victories. It was the Terps first win since Dec. 1.
